Laser Vision Correction

WILL I STILL NEED READING GLASSES AFTER MY LASER VISION CORRECTION?
Laser vision correction does not treat the need for reading glasses (presbyopia). As we age, usually between 40-50 years of age, the inside fine focusing lens of your eye hardens and no longer provides clear reading vision. This means that even if you have LASIK surgery, you will still need reading glasses to see clearly up close, just like everyone else. Monovision may be another option for you to consider.

If you are over 40 years old you could choose to retain you ability to read and see the computer without needing glasses or contacts through a procedure call Monovision or NearLASIK. Monovision refers to correcting one eye for distance and the other eye for near vision. Monovision can be achieved through contact lenses or laser vision correction. One eye can be surgically corrected to provide good distance vision, and the other eye can be left slightly nearsighted for reading vision. If this option seems desirable, people may want to consider this with contact lenses first, prior to the LASIK procedure, to determine their suitability for Monovision.
